Thor: Ragnarok is all about the hair. Chris Hemsworth’s Thor has finally ditched those limp locks, Cate Blanchett has gone dark as Hela, Jeff Goldblum is just glorious and Tom Hiddleston has a terrible wig. Hulk is totally on fleek though and has some delightful headgear.
The general consensus (please note, there is no such thing as a general consensus) seems to state that Thor is the unloved middle franchise of the MCU. After an extremely solid, nicely contained launch movie directed by the wonderful Kenneth Branagh, The Dark World is possibly the most pedestrian film in the entire MCU output with a dull villain and far too much Natalie Portman. There are some decent gags and some Kat Dennings but ultimately it just wasn’t much fun.
Well Thor: Ragnarok looks like it’s tonally completely different. Taika Waititi (Hunt for the Wilderpeople) appears to have brought his voice to proceedings and with Thor finally set free from Earth, it looks like there should be a whole lot more Guardians of the Galaxy-esque space-based fun.
Tessa Thompson, Anthony Hopkins, Karl Urban and Idris Elba also star.
Thor Ragnarok arrives in theatres on 27 October 2017.
