True Blood S05E07: In The Beginning
True Blood has gone so very far beyond the reaches of even its own half-hearted attempts at maintaining the rules of its own fictional universe, and is making some bloody odd decisions to boot. Incidentally I found a tumblr post that sums things up pretty good. Thisweek’s good: Sassy Sookie, Arlene’s Wedding Video, Sam Is A Dog; this week’s bad: just about everything else.
True Blood S05E06: Hopeless
Good news you guys, True Blood is totally in on the joke, this week at least. There was an unusual density of self-aware wtfery from characters and performers alike, plus the whole episode is called “Hopeless”. If TB is trolling here, then fair play, we all agreed to hop on board this fruity trainwreck, let’s keep on truckin. Good things this week: Lafayette, Eric/Alcide, RUSSELL; bad: Tara, werewolves, fairies, Iraq, oh my.
True Blood S05E05: Let’s Boot and Rally
I imagine the writing sessions at True Blood Towers consists of a lot of excited people smooshing dolls together and babbling excitedly about who should be bffs with who before handing their ‘ideas’ over to a bunch of wizened hacks who insert as much self-referential eyerolling as humanly possible without exploding the fanbase.
True Blood S05E04: We’ll Meet Again
Good news, everyone! I called up a guy and he came round and rewired my brain so it comprehends True Blood. This week’s episode, “We’ll Meet Again” had its ups (Pam, Eric, Christopher Meloni) and downs (Tara, Sookie, Terry’s storyline) and once more everything was thrown together into a big old gumbo fulla cray that didn’t move things along much but made a big noise doing it.
True Blood S05E03: Whatever I Am, You Made Me
This week’s True Blood felt like consolidating our learnings from last week, just to make sure we caught all the Vampire Politics chat. This week’s pros: Jess/Jason, Past Pam/Past Eric, the continuing buddy comedy going on at Authority HQ; cons: Tara, Sookie/Everyone, Stop Being Mean to Lafayette, The Fact That Neither Terry Nor Hoyt Have Anything Cool To Do. Calling it now: one of these guys will be the ‘major character’ to be shuffled off this year.
