It has been a bit of a quiet time when it comes to geeky pop culture. Sure, Deadpool marketing has been bubbling away in the background but it’s the time of year when studios tend to pump out a mixture of terrible films and awards contenders. Luckily, the Super Bowl has come to rescue us all. It’s a big event in America where brands release loads of new adverts for cool things and in the downtime there’s some kind of sporting event played but nobody actually understands that. Some of these adverts are for motion pictures that mainstream audiences might enjoy.
First up, it’s a new TV spot for Captain America: Civil War which features lots of lovely new footage.
Next up, here’s another Marvel hero, it’s Deadpool everyone, arriving in cinemas this Friday.
For something completely different, something’s coming in 10 Cloverfield Lane.
Disney have also released a full length trailer for their forthcoming live action remake of The Jungle Book from Iron Man director Jon Favreau .
Matt Damon returns to his career defining role of Jason Bourne along with director Paul Greengrass following the studio’s failed attempt to expand the franchise without the original star in 2012’s disappointing The Bourne Legacy. The new film is simply titled Jason Bourne. Here’s the first look.
Just two years after their most recent reboot, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles return with a new film titled Out of the Shadows. That’d clearly a worse than The Secret of the Ooze.
Another sequel, this one with a slightly bigger gap, here’s one for Independence Day: Resurgence which brings back most of the original cast after 20 years as well as many fresh faces.
There’s also a new TV spot for X-Men: Apocalypse
And let’s round it all up with two clips from Alice Through the Looking Glass
Hope you all enjoyed the Super Bowl. We’ll be back at some other point with inane commentary on more trailers.
