“Cinderelly, Cinderelly, night and day it’s Cinderelly,” was what producers in Disney Studios were saying as they tried to work out new ways to exploit their back catalogue bring their much loved properties to a whole new audience. They’ll be hoping for a big hit after the huge success of Maleficent, although this time it appears to be more of a straight retelling of the fairy tale with a little bit more back story with Hayley Atwell putting in an appearance as the mother of Ella. Lily James stars in the title role with Cate Blanchett probably stealing the show as her wicked stepmother. Helena Bonham Carter appears the Fairy Godmother because of course she does. Director Kenneth Branagh has proved he can bring in the big audiences with his take on Thor with Marvel and Disney will be hoping he can work his magic and cast a spell over a new generation of audiences.
Cinderella arrives in cinemas (probably in a pumpkin) on 27 March 2015 in the UK and 13 March 2015 in the US
