Following Man of Steel, many were disappointed that there wasn’t going to be a solo Superman sequel and instead there was going to be a mash-up movie where DC’s biggest characters meet and fight for the first time on the big screen. It seemed like DC were rushing to try and catch up with the Marvel juggernaut and rather than carefully build their world, they were just rushing into the big crossover movie without doing the vital world building.
This trailer puts to rest many of those fears, showing just how important Superman is to this world, using that as a jumping off point to explore an ageing Batman and the politics of the DC universe with some Wonder Woman thrown in for good measure. For fans of super cuts, there’s also a chance to see Bruce Wayne’s parents getting killed once again – it’s been almost a year since anyone filmed that so really it’s well overdue.
Zack Snyder returns to direct an A-list cast that includes Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice arrives in cinemas 25 March 2016
