10 Cloverfield Lane: Trailer and poster for surprise sequel

Sometimes when a sequel to a big studio movie comes out, you feel like you’ve seen everything before it’s even been released. That can really spoil the whole cinema experience. That’s absolutely not the case with 10 Cloverfield Lane, a new film produced by JJ Abrams which is apparently connected to found footage monster movie Cloverfield as directed by Matt Reeves back in 2008.

There have been some suggestions that this isn’t really related to the prior film at all but rather it’s using the name as a marketing tool to bring a wider audience into a completely unrelated film. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that of course, and given the buzz this trailer has had in just a few days, it could prove to be an incredible shrewd move. In addition, unveiling a movie with just a couple of months until its release is sure to create plenty of buzz especially with the impressive primary cast comprising of Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Goodman and John Gallagher Jr. The film has been directed by first timer Dan Trachtenberg and if the Bad Robot stable is anything to go by, he’ll be destined for much bigger things.

The poster is very nice too. Isn’t that the field that the Bad Robot runs around in at the start of movies?
